How much does Loftia cost?
The announced Loftia price is $29.99 in the US, with a limited-time 17% launch discount reducing it to $24.89. It is a buy-to-play game, and the developer says there is no subscription required to play. The important budgeting distinction is between buying access to the game and choosing to spend more on optional cosmetics.
These are the official Early Access prices announced before the November 3, 2026 release. Loftia will be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store on PC and Mac. Regional pricing applies, so the US dollar amount is a reference rather than a promise of the checkout price in every country.
| Purchase or feature | Announced US price or policy | Required for gameplay? |
|---|---|---|
| Early Access game | $29.99 base price | Yes, it is buy-to-play |
| Limited-time launch offer | $24.89 after a 17% discount | Discounted game purchase |
| Loftia gameplay subscription | None | No recurring Loftia subscription |
| Backer Boutique cosmetic item | $2–$4 per item | No |
| Full-outfit cosmetic bundle | Up to $8 | No |
| Community Pass | Price not specified in the reviewed announcement | No; additional cosmetic rewards |
The developer's official Early Access page explains both the game price and its optional purchases. It does not provide a launch-discount end date in the material reviewed here. Check the storefront's offer details before deciding how long you have to buy at the lower price.
Is Loftia free to play, or does it need a subscription?
Loftia is paid rather than free to play. Buying it gives access to gameplay without an ongoing Loftia subscription, according to the official FAQ. You do not need to add a cosmetic pass to your budget just to farm, craft, explore, or progress.
The FAQ also says the team has no plans for paid expansions and intends new content updates to be free for game owners. Treat that as the developer's announced plan, rather than a guarantee about every possible product years into the future.
Loftia still requires an internet connection because it is an online MMO. The absence of a subscription does not create an offline mode. Solo play is supported, but solo progress and offline access are different questions.
Platform services are a separate consideration. Nintendo Switch is planned for 2027, and the developer notes that Nintendo's online membership requirements apply to online games on that platform. That future platform requirement should not be confused with a monthly subscription charged by Loftia for the PC/Mac release.
What can you buy in the Backer Boutique and Community Pass?
The Backer Boutique is an optional cosmetic store. The announced categories include outfits, furniture, pet accessories and styles, and visual effects. The developer says these purchases will not affect gameplay and that Loftia's monetization will not use gacha mechanics.
The official launch plan puts individual cosmetic items at $2–$4, with a full-outfit bundle costing up to $8 in the US. Regional pricing is also planned for these purchases. Those figures describe the announced shop range, not a claim that every future cosmetic will retain the same price.
Buying cosmetics is also not the only way to customize your character and home. The developer states that 93% of cosmetics at Early Access launch will be unlocked through gameplay, rather than the Backer Boutique. That percentage is a launch announcement; it does not mean every individual outfit can be earned or that the ratio can never change.
The Community Pass adds cosmetic rewards to World Projects. These projects have rewards available to all players and additional ones tied to the pass. The official page says pass rewards do not expire: after a World Project finishes, players can still choose to unlock its pass rewards later.
That policy means you do not need to assume a project ending creates an immediate deadline to buy its cosmetic rewards. However, the reviewed announcement does not establish a Community Pass price, so do not calculate a total purchase budget using an invented pass cost.
Regional prices, future changes, and buying decisions
For your actual budget, open the storefront you plan to use and check its local currency price. Regional pricing is explicitly part of the official plan. Converting $29.99 with a currency calculator cannot establish the regional price chosen for your store.
Also separate the launch discount from a possible later base-price change. The developer's Early Access statement on Steam says it may consider raising the price closer to version 1.0 as content, quality, and features develop. It also says the team is not committed to a price change. There is no confirmed 1.0 price to compare against today.
Before buying, check three things:
- Your device: compare it with the current system requirements. The Steam listing specifically excludes Intel-based Macs.
- Your preferred platform: the FAQ says a purchase is needed on each platform you want to play on; do not assume one purchase covers every future platform.
- Your expectations: Early Access is still being developed. Choose it for the announced playable offering and the experience of following development, rather than treating all planned 1.0 features as already complete.
If your goal is simply to start playing on a supported PC or Mac, the game purchase is the relevant entry cost. Optional shop items and the Community Pass can be considered separately after you decide whether their cosmetics appeal to you.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Loftia launch price in the US?
The base price is $29.99. The announced limited-time 17% launch discount brings it to $24.89. Check the live storefront for the offer's availability and your regional price.
Do I need a Community Pass to access gameplay?
No. The official FAQ says a single game purchase provides gameplay access. The Community Pass offers additional cosmetic rewards from World Projects.
Are Loftia's microtransactions pay-to-win?
The developer describes the shop and pass as cosmetic-only, says purchases will not affect gameplay, and rules out gacha monetization. This describes the announced design before launch, rather than a claim based on our own Early Access testing.
Will Loftia cost more at full release?
Possibly, but no increase is confirmed. The Steam Early Access statement says the developer may consider a higher price closer to 1.0 based on the game's development, while explicitly leaving that decision open.
