The demo main quest route at a glance

Your glider comes after a surprisingly busy first stretch of island life. This Loftia main quest walkthrough follows the demo's opening story from Pebble's welcome through your first Adventure and glider, so you can identify the next handoff when progress feels scattered. The route ends before entering the Hanging Gardens.

The steps below are based on player experience in Z1 Gaming's narrated demo session, supported by other demo player reports. Early Access is scheduled for November 3, 2026; this is a demo walkthrough, rather than a claim to have completed the upcoming release. The official Early Access overview describes the wider game planned beyond that opening.

Meet Milo and settle into your neighborhood

After the opening arrival, talk to Pebble. He sends you to Milo, the tinkerer who introduces gathering and crafting. Follow Milo's icon and collect the resources requested by the active objective.

In the narrated demo route, this begins with plastic discards and screws. Milo then sends the player for clay and scrap wire before handing over a project station. Some resources can be picked up directly; larger debris needs a tool. If an object requires a hammer you do not have yet, continue looking for the loose resources needed for this early assignment.

Return to Milo after completing each gathering objective. Once he gives you the station, check in with Pebble and use the balloon to travel to My Neighborhood. Meet Pebble there, then place your project station and bed on your home island through decorating mode.

Speak to Pebble again after settling in. The next practical job is crafting a hammer at the project station and using it to break nearby debris. The demo narration records a cleanup objective of ten items. Complete the tracked cleanup and return to Pebble to continue toward Hazel's farming introduction.

Keep the station accessible when placing furniture. You will return to it for your watering can, cooking station, garden bed, refining station, and eventually the glider.

Complete Hazel's farming lessons and Amani's permit

Grow lettuce and make your first shipment

Hazel introduces the seed shop and gives you the opening farming tasks. Return home, place the garden bed, and plant the lettuce seeds. Craft a watering can at your project station, equip it, and water the planted crops.

Watch the crop's water and growth indicators. A thirsty crop stops growing, so an unfinished harvest does not necessarily mean the quest is broken. Refill your watering can at a rain collector when needed.

Harvest the mature lettuce and return to Hazel. She explains the shipping bin, then asks you to deliver four crops in the narrated route. Put the required crops into the bin and confirm the shipment. Keep an eye on your other objectives before shipping everything: crops are also ingredients and quest supplies.

Plant carrots and cook soup

The next lesson introduces carrot soup. Plant the provided carrot seeds, water them, and craft and place a cooking station. If you are short on metal scraps for the station, use the hammer to collect more debris from your island or the city.

Crafting and cooking consume battery energy. When the station cannot run because your battery is low, recharge from your island's solar panel. That is a separate requirement from having enough ingredients.

Once your carrots are ready, prepare carrot soup at the cooking station and deliver the requested soup through the shipping bin. Then return to Hazel for the expansion handoff.

Buy the permit before placing another garden bed

Hazel sends you to Amani, who handles building permits. Improve the garden-bed permit with her before trying to expand your planting area. Simply owning the materials for another bed does not replace the permit step.

After the upgrade, craft and place your second garden bed. In this demo player experience, the displayed second-bed requirement is five clay and ten scrap wood. Follow your own recipe display if you are playing a different build.

Hazel then asks the player to plant eight seeds across the available space. The narration distinguishes the introductory special seeds from regular crops, which take longer to grow. Do not use the opening lettuce's quick growth as a promise for every later seed.

Start Cliff's glider chain and finish Ryder's Adventure

After this early farming and expansion stretch, the story's tremors lead to Cliff, who handles district travel and safety. His safety-device discussion starts the glider chain and sends you back to Milo.

Milo's stage involves collecting metal scraps, scrap wood, plant fiber, and tires. Follow the active gathering requirements, return to him, and obtain the refining-station blueprint. Craft the station at home and place it on your island.

The refining tutorial asks for metal plate, plank, straw, and rubber. Select the required refined material, start processing, and collect the finished output when it is ready. Processing takes time; starting an order is not the same as having its result in your inventory.

Once that work is complete, return to Milo. The next main-story handoff sends you to Ryder at the Adventure Dock.

Ryder's opening Adventure requires Scrambled Coordinates. The demo player obtains them while breaking and gathering ordinary material piles around the city, and later explicitly reports receiving them while gathering plant fiber. Continue collecting resources, then return when the quest asks you to show the coordinates to the adventurer.

Enter the first tutorial Adventure and play it through to the end. Its narrated objectives include powering beacons with your battery, building seismic sonars, and completing a gauntlet. Do as many objectives as you can before the timer ends, then return to Ryder after the results and trip back. This first outing is a tutorial; it does not establish the exact layout or requirements of every later Adventure.

Craft the glider and recognize the demo's stopping point

After the first Adventure, Ryder directs you back to Cliff for the tested glider blueprint. Talk to Cliff before trying to craft the item: the earlier refining lesson alone does not finish the unlock.

Return home with the blueprint and prepare the listed materials. The narrated final craft names glass cullets, straw, and rubber. The player gathers more tires and plant fiber for the refining stage, then collects the necessary refined output and crafts the glider at the project station. Use the recipe shown in your build for exact quantities and battery cost.

The remaining sequence is:

  1. Craft the glider after receiving Cliff's blueprint.
  2. Jump and press Space again to activate it with the demo's keyboard controls.
  3. Return to Cliff and show him your newly crafted glider.
  4. Follow his next story conversation about the damaged districts and Hanging Gardens.

The demo then ends before you enter the Hanging Gardens. Reaching that message is the boundary of this opening storyline, rather than evidence that you missed another city errand. The narrated session still has activities and crafting left in the available area, but it does not continue into a verified Hanging Gardens quest walkthrough.

FAQ

Why can't I craft the glider after making a refining station?

The demo chain still sends you through Ryder's first Adventure. Finish that outing, speak to Ryder afterward, and return to Cliff for the glider blueprint. Refining is an earlier prerequisite, not the final reward.

Why can't I place a second garden bed?

Complete Hazel's early farming and soup tasks, then improve the garden-bed permit with Amani. After that, craft and place the additional bed required by the quest.

Where should I look for the first Scrambled Coordinates?

In the narrated demo player experience, they appear while gathering and breaking ordinary city material piles. Plant-fiber gathering is specifically mentioned later in the same session. This does not establish a guaranteed drop from each pile.

Does this route cover the full Early Access main story?

It covers the demo's Loftia City opening through the glider and the boundary before Hanging Gardens. It does not claim a tested route through the additional Early Access districts or later quests.
