Start with materials, a station, and battery power
Crafting in Loftia's demo needs both the recipe's materials and enough battery charges. Your first useful loop is to collect scrap in the city, make items at your Project Station, and recharge at a solar panel when your energy runs low. Learning that loop helps you keep moving through the opening quests without confusing a missing ingredient with an empty battery.
This Loftia crafting guide follows the player experience narrated in Z1 Gaming's free-demo walkthrough. It covers that pre-release opening, including the Project Station, Cooking Station, and Refining Station. The developers' Early Access feature overview provides the wider context for the growing game.
Get your Project Station through Milo's opening tasks
After meeting Pebble, follow the introductory direction to Milo. His early tasks send you to gather useful scrap, including materials found on the ground and around the city's junk-filled areas. Return with the requested items to continue toward receiving your Project Station.
The narrated demo then takes you to your home in the Player Neighborhood. Place the Project Station on your island as part of settling in. You now have the starting point for making tools and other useful objects.
At the station:
- Select the recipe you want to make.
- Check its material requirements.
- Check the battery-charge cost.
- Craft once you can meet both requirements.
The hammer is an early example. Pebble directs you to make one so you can break up debris and collect more resources. That creates the basic progression cycle: crafting a tool helps you gather materials for your next craft.
Some resource objects need a stronger tool than your starting one. In the walkthrough, the player encounters objects requiring a level-two hammer. Treat the requirement shown by the game as your guide instead of assuming every piece of debris can be collected immediately.
Keep your crafting battery charged
Your battery supplies the charges consumed by crafting stations. When a recipe needs more charges than you currently carry, use a solar panel on your island to recharge before trying again.
This matters when several quests arrive close together. Making a station, cooking, and preparing later equipment can draw on the same energy supply. Check the displayed charge cost before starting a batch of work so you know whether to recharge first.
An empty battery does not mean the recipe itself needs to be unlocked again. Separate the two questions: do you have the required materials, and do you have enough charges to spend? Battery-capacity upgrades are a different task from refilling the power you already have.
The opening also introduces a Cooking Station. Follow the farming and cooking objectives, gather the requested materials, craft the station, and place it on your island. The narrated carrot-soup task then connects growing crops, cooking, and delivering the finished dish to the Shipping Bin.
Use the Refining Station for processed materials
Later in the demo's opening storyline, Cliff's travel-related progression sends you back through Milo's crafting tasks. This leads to a Refining Station blueprint and the objective to craft and place that station on your island.
The Refining Station handles a different part of the crafting loop: turning raw resources into processed materials over time. The walkthrough's introductory processing objectives name metal plate, plank, straw, and rubber.
To use it, choose the refined material, set the quantity, and select Craft. Wait for processing to finish, then use the station's ready indicator to tell when your order is available. The player uses that waiting time to tend crops and handle other nearby tasks.
| Station | Role in the narrated demo | Early example |
|---|---|---|
| Project Station | Makes tools and useful items from recipes | Starting hammer |
| Cooking Station | Turns ingredients into prepared dishes | Carrot soup |
| Refining Station | Processes raw resources into refined materials over time | Metal plate, plank, straw, and rubber |
Keep the recipe screen in view when planning your next trip. The walkthrough gathers materials for a particular objective, processes them, and returns to Milo before moving on. Following the active request is more useful than crafting a large stock of items you do not yet need.
FAQ
Why can I have materials and still need to recharge?
Crafting also consumes battery charges. Check the energy cost alongside the ingredient list, then refill at a solar panel if your carried charge is too low.
Does refining finish as soon as I select Craft?
The demo's Refining Station processes materials over time. Choose the recipe and quantity, start the order, and watch for its ready indicator.
Should I ship every crop while working through crafting quests?
Check your current goals first. The opening farming dialogue specifically reminds players that crops have other uses, and the next cooking task turns carrots into soup. Keeping what your active recipe needs can save another growing cycle.
